We try to do field trips once a month along with periodical parties, field days, and park days in the summer. We also do group unit studies. You are only responsible for the cost of your family to participate in the activities you want to join in doing. We have one mom who does testing at the end of the year for a small fee, a violin teacher who offers private lessons, a woman who gives private piano lessons, a gentleman who offers private tutoring and group classes all associated with our group.

CHESCA has a Homeschool Band. More info is available upon request. We do monthly field trips, sometimes offer different classes as well as visit nursing homes. We have a variety of things offerred at different times. We encourage every one to share ideas. In the past the kids have participated in 4H activities, co-op classes like art, public speaking, drama etc. There has recently been a woodworking class too. A secular group, Teen Homeschoolers of Raleigh (THOR) was founded in 2003 to fill the need for a welcoming group for families homeschooling teens and preteens in the Wake County area- regardless of faith, lifestyle, family composition, ethnicity, or homeschooling style.

THOR's primary focus is providing social and educational opportunities for member families, and their teens and preteens (in general, families with homeschooled children ages 11 and up).
